Created to meet the needs of working adults, the Cathy Shipley “Best and Brightest” Internship Program offers participating graduate students opportunities to work in a small and/or rural jurisdiction as a paid administrative intern. Interns receive a salary and benefits package of up to $42,500 annually for their work in a local jurisdiction.
The program requires a two-year commitment. You need to be enrolled in your degree program at the time of application and minimally for one semester while in service. Online course options and the capstone allow SPA graduate students to participate.
Interviews will occur on campus or by video conference in late October–early November. Cities will make offers shortly after the interview process. Positions are anticipated to start in January 2018.
Participating localities include:
- Pitkin County
- Fort Morgan
- Alamosa County
