Jobs and Internship Opportunities

1.  City of Aspen
They are hiring a Business Analyst/Management Analyst to assist with and lead the City Manager’s Office on a variety of projects. Deadline to apply is August 31.  More information on their website.

2.  Capstone Opportunity: The Institute for Environmental Solutions
They are looking for graduate interns to join one of their project teams (The Tree Project and the Chemical Footprint Project). More information on the SPA Job Portal.

3. Graduate Assistant Position, Events Assistant
This position will be responsible for aiding in the planning, preparation and execution of events sponsored by the CU Denver School of Public Affairs. Schedule is negotiable, but some early mornings and evenings will be required. This is a 10-20 hour per week work-study position only. Students must have an award letter to qualify. 4.   The Africa Agenda
This small nonprofit located in the Posner Center is seeking interns or volunteers to help organize and run the annual Africa Agenda Summit, a speaker-led dinner event. The theme this year is “Africa & Technology.” Visit their website and email Charles Ridgeway if you are interested.

5. Job Opportunity:  Court Services Specialist, Adams County Sheriff’s Office
The deadline to apply is August 30. This person will perform a variety of criminal justice and corrections duties related to Pretrial Release, Pretrial Supervision, Classifications, Inmate Workers, Work Release, Time Computation and State Offenders. Apply online.

6. Several Public Health Policy and Finance Internship Options

1. Affordable Teacher Housing

2. Taking the Temperature on Denver’s Civic Health

With Denver’s continuing and sometimes inequitable growth, we wonder: What is the state of Denver’s civic health today? We’ll cover volunteerism, voting, community and neighborhood partnerships, as well as equity/inequity for people who have been involved in the justice system. 3. What Colorado Can Learn from the European Union

The Wirth Chair Sustainability Series presents this event. MPA Student Association Announcements and Events

1. Find or Sell Used Textbooks through MPA Student Association Book Exchange
Looking to find or sell/loan your textbooks? View or add available books on the MPASA Book Exchange shared Google document and contact your peers by phone or email. Don’t forget to update the list once a book has exchanged ownership and/or is no longer available!

2. MPA Student Association August Eat and Greet
Weds., Aug. 23 | 5:30-7 p.m. | Avanti Food and Beverage (3200 Pecos Street, Denver)
Join us for the first happy hour of the 2017 Fall semester. Don’t miss this chance to enjoy good drinks, food and fellow students before the school session gets underway. 3. Scheduling Fall Semester Student Activities
The MPA Student Association wants to hear from you as it plans fall semester student activities and events. 4. Fourth Annual MPASA Welcome BBQ

The annual MPA Student Association Welcome BBQ is a great opportunity to connect with new and returning students and SPA faculty/staff for an afternoon of food and fun at one of Denver’s lovely parks. All MPA students, faculty, staff, alumni, and loved ones are invited. Please bring your favorite potluck-style dish, side, dessert, or drink to share! 5. Save the Date: Capstone Event!

SPA and MPASA are co-hosting an informative and interactive event to jumpstart your capstone planning. Students will have the opportunity to meet with potential capstone clients, hear firsthand experiences from alumni, and learn the ins and outs from capstone faculty advisors.
