SPA faculty have played a key role in this summer’s COSLI program that brings more than 50 rising high school juniors and seniors to the CU Denver campus for a month.
COSLI – Colorado Student Leaders Institute – is the “Governor’s School” for Colorado and has support from the state government as well as private foundations. Twenty-five states participate in the Governor’s School network, a concept launched in 1963 that has proven to be a highly successful model for post-secondary preparedness.
On July 18, Dr. Tanya Heikkila addressed the group about water policy in Colorado. On July 25, Dr. Callie Rennison talked with them about her research and activities related to campus safety and sexual assault.
On July 22, Dean Paul Teske moderated a discussion about political divides and how to talk across them. The discussion featured Republican gubernatorial candidate Doug Robinson, State Senate Majority Leader Chris Holbert, and Tay Anderson, an 18-year-old former Manual High School student body president who is running for the Denver Board of Education.
