Congrats to our soon-to-be graduates!  Remember commencement is Saturday, May 13, at 9 AM, followed by a reception hosted by SPA at 11 AM in the Tivoli Student Union, Adirondacks Room. Details regarding commencement are online.

Conferences and Networking, Professional Development

1. Emergency Management
May 19, 1-4 PM | Boulder
Open to students. The Association of Continuity Professionals has coordinated a free tour of the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center. Space weather impacts several critical operations for continuity planning.  Come learn and network! Details online.

2. Nonprofit Professionals
May 18, 4:30 – 6:30
Join Colorado Collaborative Connections for a recap of Colorado’s 2017 legislative session. Legislators, for-profit and nonprofit leaders will give their take on the successes and short-falls of the session and their perspectives. SPA will pay the $10 registration fee for the first 3 to reply. Details online.

 Paid Internships and Fellowships

1. Denver South Economic Development Partnership
Paid internship ($20/hour) they are trying to promote and would like to see SPA students apply. Details online.  Inquire ASAP.

2. Colorado Succeeds
Seeking Fellows in Education Policy and in Communications. Apply ASAP. Rolling considerations. Details online.

3. The Town of Center in the San Luis Valley
Needs to put together a master plan in order to annex some property. A few meetings will be necessary in Center. The rest can be completed by telecommute.  The timeline to complete the project is no later than May 2018.  Contact Joan Mobley, Town Manager, to discuss possibilities.

4. Victim Advocacy
The Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance can assist students victim advocacy and services internships. Inquire about opportunities for the summer or fall semesters. Details online.

Job Opportunities

1. The City of Lone Tree
Reached out to SPA specifically to promote their management analyst position. They’re hoping SPA students will apply! Details online.

2. U.S. Department of Interior
Has a couple of student federal career pathways positions open. They’re open until May 12 or until they receive 200 applications. Don’t delay. Details online.

3. City of Arvada — Department of Public Safety
Has encouraged SPA students to apply for the Victim Family Support position by May 12. Details online.
