2. Human Trafficking Conference

3. Networking for Public Service Careers

This is a social event to get SPA students connected to public service agencies for employment, advice and networking. It will be a diverse group of government, nonprofit, sustainability, and public safety agencies represented. Save the date!

1. Mandatory Capstone Seminar Orientation (PUAD/CRJU 5361)

The orientation prepares you to identify a project and client and to develop a prospectus in preparation for the beginning of the course. If you plan to enroll in the Spring 2018 capstone course, you are encouraged but not required to attend. RSVP by April 18 and indicate if you are an MPA or MCJ student.

Jobs, Internships, International Experience
1. Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT)
They are hiring. OEDIT works with statewide partners to create a positive business climate that encourages dynamic economic development and sustainable job growth for Colorado. Program Analyst: $45,000 – $60,000. Deadline: April 30. Details online.
2. Emergency Management Students: Chinook Group
They are hiring for a couple positions. They are interested in hearing from our students. Let me know if you’re interested. If there are 4-5 of you, we’ll see about setting up a group meeting. The jobs and will be posted to the job portal by April 6.
3. Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Paid Sustainability Intern
Primary Activities: 1) Research Hazardous Chemical Inventory programs and fee structures in other states and present a summary of programs. Conduct analysis of Colorado’s current fee and how revenues may change if fee was changed. 2) Research local government environmental technical assistance programs in Colorado. 3) Assist with Greening Government activities and reporting as needed. Approximate start date: May 15 – June 1. Approximate end date: July 31 – August 15. Hours: 24-40 hrs/week; some work may be completed remotely. 4. Research Health in All Policies (HiAP) in Colorado
Paid Summer Internship. 20 hours per week. 15 weeks over the summer months, flexible start and end date. Compensation: $15 per hour. Details in the job portal.
5. Smart Commute Metro North
They are seeking a paid summer intern. They are a non-profit transportation management organization serving the 13 jurisdictions that comprise the North Area Transportation Alliance (NATA). Their organization has grant funding available to allow us to offer an intern position for temporary part time employment starting May 1st. This position will provide an opportunity for real world experience in the field of transportation, communication, marketing and public outreach. Up to 400 hours. $12-15 an hour. 6. Colorado Department of Human Services. Paid Fellowship
State Human Services Applied Research Practicum (SHARP) Fellowship. It’s a competitive application process for these positions. Students will also receive a $10,000 stipend. This 9 month practicum offers students opportunity to: Learn about program evaluation and analysis methods in the context of Human Services programs; Gain practical experience applying research and evaluation techniques; Complete a research project with a formal written deliverable and presentation; Actively participate in learning seminars.
7. International Experience with Hope Shines
They are seeking applicants for a summer immersion program in Rwanda to support their mission to improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children through unique health and education programs.
