Conferences for Professional Development
1. Transportation and Innovation: Citizens’ Academy
This is a highly regarded 7-week class that is competitive for admission. Participants meet to learn from local experts and leaders, meet other interested citizens and ultimately put what they learn into action. The emphasis is on mobility innovations (Car Shares, FasTracks, etc.). Deadline to apply is Friday, March 17 at 5pm. Scholarships are available. Deadline to accept admission and scholarships is March 29. SPA may also be able to assist depending on demand.
2. Survey Design and Analysis for Practitioners

4. Human Trafficking Conference: Understanding the Myriad of Challenges Inherent in Sustainable Restoration for Victims of Trafficking

Speakers include agents working in areas of federal law enforcement, mental health, and housing. Lunch provided but you must register in advance.
5. Downtown Colorado Inc. Annual Conference
May 2 – 5 in Breckenridge, CO
DCI is seeking graduate students to participate in workshops that are designed to transform the community’s difficult challenges and problems into promising opportunities. Participants will work side-by-side with leading industry experts and local peer networks to craft problem-solving plans that result in improved futures for all. Some funding support is available to help SPA graduate students attend. Email Brendan Hardy if you would like to participate.

2. Mandatory Capstone Seminar Orientation for PUAD/CRJU 5361

MCJ Students: Economics Conference Room, LW 450, 1380 Lawrence Street, 4th Floor
The orientation prepares you to identify a project and client and to develop a prospectus in preparation for the beginning of the course. If you plan to enroll in the Spring 2018 capstone course, you are encouraged but not required to attend. RSVP by April 18 and indicate if you are an MPA or MCJ student.

1. Unpresidented: Executive Power in the Trump Administration

Emeritus Professor Harold Bruff, the author of Untrodden Ground: How Presidents Interpret the Constitution (U of Chicago Press, 2015), will discuss the ways in which the Trump administration has departed from the precedents set by the 44 presidents before him. Professor Bruff’s lecture will be followed by a reception and an opportunity to mix and mingle with members of our Colorado Law community. Free for students and staff, but registration is required.
