Wirth Chair Report Featured in Rwanda Daily Newspaper

The article “Skills gap, lack of funding affecting energy sector devt, new study indicates” in the Feb. 14, 2017, New Times (a daily English-language newspaper in Rwanda) profiled research by SPA Ph.D. student and Wirth Chair director Jennifer Kagan and Wirth Chair scholar Mark Safty. Last year they conducted a survey on the current situation in the development of Rwanda’s power sector; their report was presented last month to an important group of government and energy stakeholders, demonstrating strong international impact. “To reduce power losses, more investment is needed to improve power infrastructure, like transmission lines and upgrades,” the draft report indicates.
