The Public Policy and International Affairs Program (PPIA) is a nonprofit organization that has been supporting efforts to increase diversity in public service for more than 30 years. PPIA believes that our society is best served by public managers, policy makers and community leaders who represent diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
To achieve this goal, PPIA has an outreach focus on students from groups who are underrepresented in leadership positions in government, nonprofits, international organizations and other institutional settings. As part of its outreach efforts, PPIA holds Public Service Weekends to introduce more students to the wide range of opportunities available in the field of public service.
SPA is honored to be selected by PPIA to host a Summer Public Service Weekend on July 28-30, 2017! This was a national competition that included top-ranking, NASPAA-accredited programs from across the country. Last year’s winners were Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College and the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. SPA is proud to join those prestigious ranks.
Congratulations and thanks to Brendan Hardy, Kathryn Werner, Wendy Bolyard and Ashley Ecklund, who submitted the winning proposal to PPIA!
More details will be forthcoming. Please contact Brendan if you’d like to get involved with this effort.
