The course Introduction to Public Service (PUAD 1001) was recently approved by the Core Curriculum Oversight Committee to be included in the Social Sciences Knowledge Area of the CU Denver Core.
This online course introduces key elements of public service in governmental, nonprofit, and nongovernmental organizations, including their roles in a market-based economy and democratic society. Students explore their own values and pathways to promoting the public good, including possible public service careers.
The course, which is also part of the Bachelor of Arts in Public Service degree program, will be taught in spring 2017 by Sean McCandless. Sean works for the School of Public Affairs as an academic resources coordinator and adjunct faculty member, and is also a Ph.D. candidate at SPA.
