Mary Dodge on Police and Families of Suspects

Professor Mary Dodge was quoted in the article “Aurora wins praise for new approach to families of suspects killed by police” that ran in the Denver Post on Nov. 14, 2016. “These efforts benefit police by soothing hard feelings in their communities, especially during a period when there is so much tension between law enforcement and minority communities, said Mary Dodge, a criminology professor at the University of Colorado Denver. “They’re doing exactly the right thing to immediately move beyond it,” Dodge said. “If they don’t move beyond it, it haunts them and they can’t move forward with the positive things they need to do.”
