Full-Time Paid Internships in Local Government

dola-logoThe School of Public Affairs works in partnership with the Colorado Department of Local Affairs to place graduate students in two-year, full-time paid internships in city management. The “Best and Brightest Local Government Interns” program is uniquely available to SPA graduate students. The program is supported by the state to serve rural localities and offers a very solid training ground for careers in local government.

The positions pay in the high 30s and include full benefits; most positions will begin by early January 2017. They usually require students to relocate and to complete the remainder of their graduate degree online. More information is coming by way of an FAQ being finalized by DOLA.

We will begin collecting resumes soon, and interviews are scheduled for October 21 on the CU South Campus in Parker, CO. The Colorado localities participating this year are listed below. More details are coming, but please email Brendan Hardy if you have questions in the meantime.

  • Bayfield
  • Georgetown
  • Glenwood Springs
  • Lochbuie
  • Morgan County
  • Pitkin County
  • Walsenburg
