Rep. Garnett says School of Public Affairs ‘really has its finger on public policy pulse’
No sooner is Rep. Alec Garnett through the door at Thump Coffee in Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood before he is chatting with a couple baristas and greeting various customers, most of whom are working on laptops.
“This is where everyone comes,” says Garnett, a 2006 graduate (AMPA) of the CU Denver School of Public Affairs. “This is practically my office.”
Whether he’s in the coffee shop, strolling through Washington Park or chatting with folks in the grocery store, the fourth-generation Coloradan enjoys keeping in touch with his constituents. Garnett and his wife, Emily, have called the Capitol Hill neighborhood home since 2010. They recently moved to a slightly larger home, however, as their family is about to grow: Emily is eight months pregnant.
