Ph.D. alum Spiros Protopsaltis was recently appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for Higher Education and Student Financial Aid at the U.S. Department of Education in Washington, D.C. Spiros is part of the Office of Planning, Evaluation and Policy Development.
Spiros’ dissertation focused on the policy process that led to the College Opportunity Fund in Colorado as a way to get some college revenue out from under TABOR restraints. He also worked considerably with the Bell Policy Institute and Jared Polis’ office on policy related to higher education and workforce opportunity before moving to D.C. a few years ago.
